Ok so you're going to think this is unreal, but it's not, and I know God has me right where He wants me! I have recently been really struggling with reconciling my love for the Lord, my faith and my sexuality. I ask God if there is anything He wants to show me on YouTube tonight to have something come up, well just yesterday me and my kids were singing Pink Pony Club in the kitchen, it was only later I discovered its basically a queer song about celebrating her freedom, so tonight I see on YouTube your AGT performance recommended and of course I knew that was want I was meant to watch but I didn't know why, I could tell you were gay, but not flamboyant 'gay', there's was something about you, and Simon nailed it on the head when he said "there's something about you I really like, I think you've got a great heart" - I knew then I needed to deep dive, I googled is Benjamin Hightower gay to be sure and low and behold this article came up, I just knew this was for me - but want to know what is even more uncanny and clearly a sign I was meant to read this today of all days? You wrote or submitted this article on JULY 6TH 2024! EXACTLY 1 YEAR AGO TODAY! You can't make this stuff up, I needed this so badly tonight, thank you. God is real and He loves me in more ways than I can express. Thank you for reaching me.

I’ve shared your Pink Pony Club Audition, your Birch Trees phenomenal song and video and your Widening Circles essay with at least a dozen of my best straight and gay friends. To a person, they love them and think you are so insightful and super talented. Best of luck. You deserve a great career and life.

Have a New Respect for Benjamin Hightower. I know the shame and the outright ugly the church can and does imply starting in Sunday school and threw out impressionable years. My Faith Is In My Heart, My Belief God Doesn't and Never Has Made Mistakes, Therefore I Am Not A Mistake. I've had my stumbles he who hasn't shall cast the first stone.....read Benjamin Hightower s words. Benjamin Hightower keep you circles full of strong loving people

Benjamin…I almost want to cry. Where was my real, loving, humble, happy, David Sedaris-witty guy? I’m gay as I mentioned after a Pink Pony Club. After that I read everything about you. Tonight’s rendition of Never Gonna Give You Up just wasn’t you. So much make up. So much weight lifting. An oddly fake look to where your mom sat during the audition and you missed the chance to sing something spectacular like Birch Trees. I hope you go on but tonight was just so wrong. I looked forward to this performance for weeks but now I think you might not be back. Why? Who talked you into this? Every video you’ve made puts this to shame. I’m sick in my heart.

All people are made in the image of God and should be treated with love and respect. All people are also born sinners according to God's word. None of us is perfect or without sin, and we never will be in this world. Even after being saved by God's grace, we will still struggle with sin. It's a battle of the flesh and the Spirit. It's not an acceptance of sin. It's a battle against our sinful nature. We are all born sinners, so that's not an excuse to sin or live a lifestyle that is against God's word. Jesus never excused sin or affirmed sin. In John 8:11 Jesus said, after the adulterous woman's accusers all left, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" "Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin." He didn't affirm her sin and tell her it's okay. He told her to stop living that life. Stop accepting that lifestyle as okay. We need to call sin what it is and fight against it. Nowhere in the Bible does it call Christians to affirm others' sins. It does call us to show grace and to love others.

I listened to Birch trees before falling asleep the other night. I think a lot of gay men have to go through a kind of transformation at some point in their life to find their true identity. In doing so we have to define a concept of God that’s greater than religion, a God that loves us as selflessly as a child. One of the greatest influences in my life was an Air Force general I knew growing up named Benjamin Funk. He’s been gone a while now, but he did a lot of wonderful things that we rely on today now from missiles to cellular satellite technology. I remember going out to lunch with him one day and I said Ben I have something to tell you. And he said “you’re gay“. I said how did you know. He said he’s known since I was a child. We have these perceptions about people around us and about ourselves that are shaped by unspoken conversations leading to the wrong conclusions. I don’t know about you, but there’s a part of me that sometimes wants to go back to that loneliness. It’s familiar. It’s like a favorite toy. And then there’s another part of me now that wants to check out a cute guy‘s ass and be happy knowing I’m perfectly fine just the way I am.
